Welcome to November’s edition of more free money from dividend investing. Before we get started with the portfolio this is what we have been up to while the dividends continue to roll in.

Here are a few things we have been up to:

  • We got some family photos done
  • Grandma was in town and we brought the kids to spend some quality time together
  • Kids very busy with activities
  • Potty training a 2 year old is not fun
  • Spent way too much money 😲

Here’s are a few pictures

Visit with Grandma

Probably the only picture of the four of us with all of us smiling at the camera

Glow gardens with some of the family

Now lets get down to business

Portfolio details:

I sold the same stock twice, I’ll explain. High liner foods announced another miserable quarter. That morning they halted trading and I put in my limit order to sell and it sold 417 shares at a price of $8.40. The stock before the announcement was at around $9.40. Over the next few days the stock became oversold and went as low as $6.19. So i decided to make a quick play and repurchased the stock with the same money that i sold and purchased 540 shares (That’s right i was able to receive 123 more shares with the same money). However waited until ex dividend and unloaded the shares as high liner no longer meets the criteria we are looking for. There is a pretty good chance over the next quarter or two that the dividend will get cut as revenues are decreasing as many don’t want breaded fish they want healthier options, reducing staff by 17% tells me they are being responsible it doesn’t show growth, debt level is quite high, shrimp business they bought a year and a half ago has some challenges and fish pricing is expected to go down in 2019 by 1-3% which will hurt High liner. Although i believe they will get where they need to be, i just don’t see that coming quickly. They are on the watch list however probably won’t look at them until a couple strong quarters come through for them which could take 12-18 months.

Other than the quick trade on High Liner Foods no purchases were made

  1. Hey Brian

Beautiful family pics. Regarding the potty training…I can relate. Our daughter just turned 3, and we spent a month or two last year doing the potty training thing…haha

I’ve got DOL on my watchlist as well – it’s down quite a bit. Good luck this month and hope you guys have a great holiday/new year!

    1. Hey jordan,

Always good to hear people like yourself relate to the struggles that come with potty training.

I have a feeling DOL will be a screaming by later next year when the PE gets back to more of an acceptable level.

Have an awesome Christmas and new year!

  2. nice Brian… great income and solid yr over yr growth.

Highliner is a hard one. Im down quite a bit, still holding but it is tempting to sell it….

im currently watching nutrien, bns, bmo, transcontinental and artis reit.

    keep it up man!

    1. I didn’t want to sell it but i just don’t see anything increasing the stock to end the year. The huge fish market in Mexico will help the first quarter and may buy it back then but we will see.
I really want to own a bank they just scare me a bit as they seem to be all trending downwards to end the year. That’s a nice watch list right there.

Thanks for supporting my path my friend that I’ve never met. Maybe we will meet down the road!
