Welcome to September’s edition of more free money from dividend investing. Before we get started with the portfolio this is what we have been up to while the dividends continue to roll in.
Here are a few things we have been up to:
- Went to Boston for training.
- Celebrated my 29th birthday for the 7th time.
- Celebrated my sisters B-day.
- Z started gymnastics.
- C started sports ball.
- Went to Calgary for a wedding.
- Daddy-Daughter date.
Here’s are a few pictures
We celebrated our birthdays together
What a good movie
Now lets get down to business

2016 – 2017 – 2018 Dividends
Pretty good quarterly month as dividends were $264.79 which increased year over year by 121%, this would also factor in new money spent . Although the last quarter looked better, that included some free trade costs so the dividend increase was 18%. Overall we are happy with the progress and really starting to look forward to next years potential on the portfolio.

Currently sitting on a good chunk of cash and am looking at potentially buying into a bank as I still do not have one in the portfolio, the issue I have is the banks seem so inflated (with good reason) at the moment and would really like to add on a bit of a pullback. Here are the banks and a few others I’m looking at:
BNS, ENB, TD, T, CSH, MFC, ALA
ALA is new to the watch list and BCE has come off the list for now
What are you currently watching?
Any advise or suggestions?
Please feel free to leave a comment and be sure to sign up for my blog via email to stay up to date with each post!
See you all next month as it should be a awesome month being a quarterly month.

nice brian. Great yr over yr increase as well!
happy belated birthday.
nice watchlist. Im debating more bns, mfc, bce or ala. Although altagas im debating selling and getting interpipeline. Got to really compare them both. Itp definately has a lower payout ratio, which is nice.
Surprised you removed bce. massive dividend and 5g may be pretty huge. Cutting cable is definately a trend but ppl may get it back for hockey season. (im debating it haha)
anyways keep it up man!
Thank you
ALA is a tough one, I’m going to hold and possibly add more, lots of insider buying going on there (What do they know that we don’t?). BNS will probably be in my future.
Your right about BCE, 5G will be big! Not sure if it will out do the cable cutting however that should eventually slow and maybe come back a bit as online viewing is not consistent. BCE tends not to do well until the new year begins (Based on the past 3 years) so it will probably get my attention at that time.
I really appreciate the feedback and your support!
Brian
