Welcome to June’s edition of more free money from dividend investing. A few changes to the portfolio in June are as follows:

Sold

Healthcare Leaders Income ETF

Selling HHL was a decision based on a couple reasons. I held this ETF for about 4 months and received a nice dividend along the way. I also sold at a gain of 12% for a nice 15% plus overall gain including dividend. I like to study charts and one major factor for selling was a common trend over the past couple years is after July this stock has not performed well up to the end of each year. Later down the road i’ll take another look at this.

Purchased

Decided this month to add to one position. I had made two other purchases however they don’t currently pay dividends so i have left them out of this.

Plaza Retail Reit

Plaza Retail REIT is a developer, owner and manager of retail real estate, with a focus on central and eastern Canada. Plaza’s current portfolio includes interests in 296 properties totaling approximately 7.8 million square feet across Canada and additional lands held for development. Plaza properties are anchored by 90.6% national tenants. It also brings an annual dividend of $0.27 with great potential for increases which they have done for 14 years and counting.

2016 vs 2017 Dividend Graph chart

June was an awesome month as we hit $101.90 in dividends. That’s an increase of 37% over last June’s total of $69.55. This is also my second best month for dividends received since the start of the dividend strategy.

Dividends received

June 2017
Accord Finacial Corp ACD.TO $9.00
Healthcare Leaders Income Fund HHL.TO $7.00
Northview Apartment REIT NVU.UN $6.79
Gamehost Inc GH.TO $5.18
Sienna SR Living Inc SIA.TO $8.63
Superior Plus Corp SPB.TO $8.22
Plaza Retail Reit PLZ.UN $5.65
Arc Resources Ltd ARX.TO $3.45
Alta Gas Ltd ALA.TO $5.78
Crescent Point Energy Corp CPG.TO $1.59
Enbridge Income Fund Holdings ENF.TO $4.28
Freehold Royalties Ltd FRU.TO $2.85
Cardinal Energy Ltd CJ.TO $8.23
Manulife Financial Corp MFC.TO $24.81
Diversified Royalty Corp DIV.TO $0.44
Total $101.90

I am very high in energy and over the remainder of the year my goal is to start to add to different sectors as i’d like to create a better overall portfolio balance.

What did we do with the $101.90?

The Asic GEL-Lyte 3’s meet this amount and they sure look comfortable. However the shoes i have still has some life in them so i guess i will reinvest this money for now. I bet you knew i was going to say that.

Please leave a comment if you wish as I appreciate any feedback!

  1. I need to learn about this dividend investment strategy. Maybe private lessons?

    1. Thanks Matt, I’m very excited to watch the compounding interest play it’s course!
