Welcome to August’s edition of more free money from dividend investing.

Before i get into that here is a quick peak of what this month has been like.

We finally got started on the back yard design that it referenced in my 2017 goals. Just 2 weeks ago this is what the yard looked like and you will see that it’s not exactly kid friendly.

I took last week off to remove the weeds and start our backyard design with the help of my brother, father in law, my little Zoey and my wife and this is what it currently looks like.

We are very happy with the progress and still have quite a bit to do before it’s completed.

Next i got the opportunity to see Guns & Roses at commonwealth stadium which was a really cool experience as i got to share the moment with family and 60,000 people.

We also got a day away at the lake with no kids and attended a friends wedding, what a busy month.

Now let’s see how the portfolio did while i was busy doing other things.

Sold

I sold nothing in August

Purchased

I had bought nothing in August.

2016 vs 2017 Dividend Graph chart

August was a pretty good month with $71.40 received in dividends. This is the first time year over year that the dividends received didn’t surpass last August mainly as at that time i was not diversified and was only in a couple stocks with very high yields. Overall i’m happy with the progress year to date.

What did we do with the $71.40?

I know what your thinking, there is no way those shoes cost $71.40. Well your right, it just so happens these arrived at my doorstep with a card from my mom. How cool is that? So since i don’t have to buy my own shoes i’ll reinvest the dividends for the future. Thanks Mom!

We are currently sitting on cash from dividends as well as new money as we make our decision what to add to next.

How did you progress this month? If you have any comments or feedback i’m always up for hearing others thoughts!

Invest in yourself

Brian
